Dermaplaning is a quick procedure with few to no adverse effects, using a scalpel and a skilled delicate technique, the surface of the skin is simply abraded using light, feathering strokes to providing a comfortable facial.

This is a great choice for clients who have excess vellus hair on the skin. This hair often causes a buildup of dirt and oils in your follicles, so removing the hair gives you healthier looking skin. Plus there's no downtime, it can be worked into your busy schedule!

Although the idea of having your face shaved with a scalpel may sound a little scary, the treatment is surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable. Scalpel facials are gentle, completely non-invasive and safe for all skin tones and types.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Wont I get more hairy?
A. Many clients are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.

Q. Who is a good candidate?
A. Anyone who wants to get rid of peach fuzz and minimise fine lines and blemishes on the face, while also improving the overall look and health of the skin, is a good candidate for this treatment. The gentle and noninvasive nature of this service also makes it a good option for clients who are pregnant, who have very sensitive skin, or who are unable to handle the chemicals in other treatments.

Q. How frequently should I schedule treatments?
A. Because a scalpel facial does not permanently remove your unwanted facial hair, you’ll need to schedule return treatments to maintain your look. Four weeks is recommended for skin to replenish itself after being exfoliated. And because it will take some time for the facial hair to regrow, you won’t need another treatment right away anyway.

Q. Is there anyone this treatment won’t work for?
A. This treatment is not recommended for patients who are in the midst of an active acne outbreak or who have open wounds or lesions on their face. Patients who are allergic to nickel or who have used the acne medication Accutane in the past six months also are not ideal candidates. Patients who have received Botox or dermal fillers should wait at least two weeks before undergoing a scalpel facial.
